Topic: My Dream.

Brittany Johnson - 10/11/2009 1:29:59 PM
I have been a writer since the day I learned how to spell my name. Whether it was writing short stories, essays, opinion pieces, or letters to family - I have always had a passion for writing. Within the past year, writing has become my life saver. I have been going through a lot of hard times and I realized: writing is the only thing that makes me happy. Anyone who reads my blog, journal, letters, etc; tell me I need to write a book. That is my dream. To publish a book on everything I have experience and learned thus far. I hope to, one day soon, travel, and write memoirs upon memoirs of the people I have met and the things I saw. I have a very unique outlook on the world and I am dying to share it with everyone. I currently write (at least 3 times a day) on www.livejournal.com about everything that happens, things I see, feel, hear, etc. Does anyone have any ideas on what I should do with my journal to get it out in the public eye? I want to be discovered. :)

I have been told, "You have a way of making people see beauty in anything just by using your words."

Unfortunately, memoirs are a hard item to sell. Unless you happen to be someone famous, or have an unique experience to share. I know of a writer whose memoirs consist of her personal experience in adopting a special-needs child. Her topic is one that has an audience already and her story is one which needs to be told, it has a "platform". If your memoirs can capture one specific event, a life-changing experience- then you may have a better chance to "being discovered". Certainly, don't stop writing. Once you've written your memoir, I'm sure an event, or experience will reveal itself to you which needs to be expanded upon. Good luck in all your endeavors.
