Topic: Would joining your group help me ???

Sandi - 7/24/2010 3:08:28 AM
I am that elusive creature....the writer who writes for herself, but would like to write for others....in other words; I would like to actually write well enough to have something published. Would becoming a member of your group be helpful to me in that endeavor?

Sandi-

I can only speak from personal experience. I have benefitted enormously by my association with Space Coast Writer's Guild, and I consider my annual dues as money well-spent.

If you are interested in critiques, I suggest you consider attending one of the critique groups listed elsewhere on this web site.

If you're interested in marketing, we have a group called "Marketing Circle" (a.k.a. Blueprints-1) that focuses on the business end. This group normally meets on the 1st Tuesday, however due to circumstances the meeting for this month is scheduled for 6 PM Aug 17 at the Suntree/Viera Library conference room near the reference desk.

Wishing you every success!

Sandi,
I'm bias to say the least, but I can tell you we offer more for our members than most of the other local writing groups. We have contacts, critique groups, workshops, seminars, lectures and our Annual Conference.
Just because all the critique groups are not listed, doesn't mean we don't have someone writing in your genre. I'm an active member in three groups and each group has it own dynamics. You can learn so much from the experiences of your peers. You can find out what worked and what didn't work, save yourself from the confusion the publishing industry strives to maintain, and reach your writing goals.
Even if you want to write just for yourself, we can help you polish the manuscript to a point where you'll want to show it off.
So, the answer to your question is a big yes- we can help you improve your craft. Tell you what, come to our next general meeting, the third Saturday of the upcoming month- test us out, see if we fit with you. And then, you can decide for yourself if we're the group you've been looking for, or if we're just short of it.
Hope to see you soon.
