Dear Writers,
The first issue of Literary Liftoff was printed January 2005, and since that time, the editorial staff has been honored to work with hundreds of talented writers. Our contributors have ranged from elementary student contest winners to Pulitzer Prize nominees. Military personnel, teachers, artists, gardeners, professional writers, and people from many other walks of life have contributed over the past. Sometimes, the hardest task for the editors was selecting the best submissions to print.
On behalf of the entire Literary Liftoff staff, I want to thank you for your interest in our magazine. Some of you wrote such strong work that little editing was necessary before you received a contract for your work. Others needed numerous revisions, but you stayed with the task and worked with your editors until your story was better, more literary, and enjoyable to read. Still, others didn't make the cut, for a variety of reasons. If revised and resubmitted later, your manuscript may be published.
However, Literary Liftoff, as we know it today, has published its last issue. The Board of Directors at Space Coast Writers' Guild, our sponsor, has made the decision to put the publication on hiatus. We expect to return in the near future with an even more impressive publication and far-reaching goals. I don't know what my role will be in the new publication, but I do expect to be involved. I hope you will want to be involved, too.
Please keep writing. Keep studying ways to improve your craft, and keep submitting your articles, stories, poems, and essays to other outlets.
Thank you for allowing me the privilege to have worked with you on Literary Liftoff. I hope to see your work again, in the future. If you have not already, I invite you register to use the forums on my website, where we can talk about our life as writers. It's free, and can be fun. The site is www.marybrotherton.com.
All the best to you and your stories,Mary BorthertonAcquisitions Editor, Literary Liftoff
